Hey there! I’m Kyle. I’ve been a game developer full time since July 2023 as the sole member of my studio, Moon Mantis Games, and worked in various tech companies for the past decade or so. Since then, I’ve learned a ton about making games. These are things I thought I knew when I started because I’ve played a ton of games. I was sort of right, but mostly wrong. I’m saving you that trouble.
That brings us here. I started creating YouTube content for game devs around 3 months ago and now have decided to expand to Substack so I can reach more people!
In this weekly newsletter I’ll talk about things I’ve learned about game development to give you a great starting point on your game dev journey. You can expect a variety of different topics ranging from industry trends, game production, technical tutorials, and more!
If you’ve watched any of my videos, you know that I’m a fan of adapting to change so the topics I cover will inevitably change over time. With each of these changes, I aim to make the newsletter as useful as possible for all you readers.

Each week I’ll leave a different “find of the week” to highlight something interesting related to game dev. These can be anything from game assets, tools, other articles, and generally anything I come across that I think is cool. Sometimes they’ll be things from outside of gaming or simply a random idea. I might even highlight games from you all that I think are cool. Really anything goes.
